Job Summary
The Sustainability Specialist will support the development and implementation of Liberty Coca-Cola’s environmental sustainability strategy focusing on packaging, waste, greenhouse gas emissions, and water. Responsible for sustainability data collection and maintaining key performance metrics, leading sustainability projects, overseeing compliance with packaging and greenhouse gas emissions regulations, creating trainings, communicating Liberty’s sustainability story, and community and customer engagement.
Responsibilities
- Manage sustainability key performance metrics and reporting relating to packaging, waste, scope 1, 2, and 3 greenhouse gas emissions, and water.
- Drive continuous improvement toward sustainability goals: Drive continuous improvement toward sustainability goals by analyzing key metrics, creating recommendations, implementing new processes, and managing projects.
- Foster the company’s sustainability culture by communicating Liberty’s sustainability story and developing trainings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations including, but not limited to, New York and Connecticut bottle bills and New York City Local Law 97.
- Manage container redemptions: Analyze redemption trends; maintain processes, policies, and UPC lists; manage relationships with pickup agents and recyclers; support pickup agents with auditing and combatting fraud; and oversee sale of baled scrap materials.
- Engage with key internal and external stakeholders, including Liberty associates and leadership, The Coca-Cola Company, key accounts, vendors, consultants, and government agencies.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Sustainability, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in sustainability field preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of The GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
- Academic and/or corporate experience preparing greenhouse gas emissions inventories (scopes 1, 2,and 3) and reports.
- Understanding of basic sustainability concepts, including energy conservation, circular economics, waste management, resource and water conservation, and corporate sustainability reporting metrics and frameworks (e.g. SASB, GRI, and CDP).
- Excellent analytical and data management skills with strong attention to detail and organization.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and ability to learn new computer platforms and tools.
- Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud a plus but not required.
- Strong communication skills, particularly the ability to build relationships and explain complex topics in understandable terms with stakeholders.

Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional travel to various company locations and project sites.
- The role may involve working in both office and field environments.
