Opportunity

Analyze production processes, equipment performance and develop strategies in improve equipment reliability. Focus on TPM and preventive maintenance data and programs to guide efforts to ensure reliability production equipment. Ensures that equipment is operating within the design parameters. Ensures that equipment is properly designed, selected, and installed. Provides critical analysis for the replacement of old and purchasing of new equipment.

Stay current and informed of changes in technologies and tools that are available in the maintenance marketplace. Keep current through professional reading, conferences, and benchmarking.

Able to mentor and coach peers in achieving similar results in other areas.

Specific Responsibilities

  • OEE Champion: Ensure correct implementation of OEE with data gathering and a continuous improvement process. Analyzes OEE data and develops plans to improve reliability.
  • Define the automation strategy and standardization to deliver cost effective systems to reduce labor costs, increase safety and drive consistency of product quality. Develop automation solutions to facilitate new and innovative product design solutions.
  • Evaluate and recommend corrective action for control of process standards through use of Kohler Operating System (KOS). Uses a variety of problem-solving methods to perform Root Cause Analysis RCA manufacturing processes to make and implement recommendations to improve reliability, quality, and delivery.
  • Provide the technique and guidance for selecting and implementing the appropriate statistical approach to study the effects of significant factors and to identify the critical process variables which affect the process quality, delivery, and cost performance.
  • Develop and maintain process control systems as required and audit all systems for compliance with established parameters.
  • Develop and issue reports, conduct related meetings, make recommendations, and initiate corrective action for all listed responsibilities.
  • Maintain technical state-of-the-art competence concerning Process Control techniques, equipment, and methods.
  • Eliminates process waste, delivering cost savings through: Energy reduction; maintenance cost / unit reduction and operations cost / unit reduction.
  • Works with engineering groups to redesign equipment/processes that fail to meet reliability objectives and/or are obsolete.
  • Supports the development of capital project justifications and budgets as required.
  • Asset reliability and improvements - Work with other engineering groups (CI, process, quality, etc.) to ensure the reliability of all assets.
  • Establish maintenance strategies for every process, asset or component - starting with the most critical. Systematically weigh the cost/benefit of each maintenance strategy against the consequence of failure.
  • Develop and systematically define, design, monitor and refine maintenance improvement plans.
  • Develop and monitor performance indicators that track process reliability. Ensures that equipment is performing effectively and efficiently as designed. Review equipment/process performance with the maintenance and production groups.
  • Work with Project Engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.
  • Participate in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.
  • Participate in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
  • Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria. Participate in the final check out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Support maintenance and production personnel as a technical trainer and advisor as needed.
  • Up to 20% travel could be required with this position
  • Provide all other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Skills/Requirements

  • Proven competence and previous success in deploying automation in manufacturing operations and/or holding key engineering roles in a large organization.
  • Bachelor and/or Master's Degree, in an engineering or related technical field.
  • Requires 5 years of automation engineering experience in a manufacturing environment where quality, innovation, and time-to-market are priorities.
  • Experience and application of automation, design for manufacture, lean manufacturing, modern quality systems, and a strong financial awareness.
  • Must be competent in speaking the English language.
  • A positive individual, good communicator & a willingness to learn/develop new skills.
  • Has sound technical and analytical skills to resolve assigned material related problems.

The salary range for this position is $98,900 - $125,600. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's experience, their education, and the work location. Available benefits include medical, dental, vision & 401k.
