Summary:
The WEB Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist Manager of the WEB Pharmacy and/or the staff pharmacist on duty in performing routine and non-routine activities associated with the WEB Pharmacy.
Responsibilities:
Assists the pharmacist on duty in the daily prescription dispensing, and other activities associated with the dispensing of prescriptions (i.e., receiving phone calls, running cash register, answering non-clinical but operationally related questions, restocking drugs, ordering drug inventory, providing price checks, etc.).
2. Assists the Pharmacist Manager in managing the OTC aspect of the WEB Pharmacy.
3. Assists the Pharmacist Manager in adhering to all federal and state regulatory requirements and laws governing the practice of Pharmacy.
4. Assists the Pharmacist Manager in adhering to all the applicable standards, and policies and procedures of the WEB Pharmacy and of the hospital.
5. Adheres to the department’s behavioral expectations.
6. Actively supports the Pharmacist Manager of WEB Pharmacy.
7. Assists the Pharmacist Manager in adhering to the best practices in drug procurement (i.e., appropriate contract adherence), and inventory management.
8. Promotes teamwork and cooperation among the staff (both in-patient and WEB Pharmacy) to meet pharmaceutical needs of the customers.
9. Ensures accurate dispensing and documentation of controlled substances.
10. Supports and promotes the Wayne Memorial Hospital Customer Service Initiatives.
11. Maintains financial accountability for the WEB Pharmacy operation.
12. Provides on-going compliance with HIPAA Policy.
13. Performs other departmental duties as required or assigned by the Pharmacy Manager and/or the pharmacist on duty.

Education
• High school diploma required and completion of a certified pharmacy technician training program or two years’ experience (hospital setting preferred).
Licensure/ Certification
• Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy within 30 days of employment Experience
• Prior experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships and communication levels with hospital employees, supervisors, and medical staff.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Ability to effectively operate the pharmacy computer and other relevant automation software/equipment.
Valid NC Driver’s License: No
If driving a Wayne UNC Vehicle, must be 21 years old and MVR must be approved by Risk Management.
