Capital One is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Manager to join our Third Party Risk Management team, within the second line of defence. The TPRM team is a dedicated group of professionals whose mission is to provide value-add, independent stewardship of Capital One's third party management practices enabling Capital One to effectively manage third-party risk.
The Risk Manager role will be responsible for practices and products providing third-party risk management oversight and governance, collaborating with risk partners, and enhancing risk assessment frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong risk management leadership and a deep understanding of financial industry regulations and best practices.
As part of the larger Operational Risk Management (ORM) organization, you will work with talented associates to provide oversight and effective challenge to ensure that our businesses effectively manage overall operational risk. This includes enabling our organizations to maintain a sustainable and holistic operational risk profile in order to deliver superior products while also protecting our customers. You'll also bring your unique perspective and experiences to help us be rigorous, curious and creative.

Key responsibilities of the TPRM Risk Manager include and are not limited to:
Develop and maintain the framework and governance structure for Third Party Risk Management program, ensuring alignment with policies
Oversee adherence to regulatory requirements and standards related to third-party risk
Provide leadership with visibility into third-party risk exposure and trends
Partner with first and second line stakeholders to ensure effective oversight of third-party risks
Lead design, implementation and continuous improvement of third party risk assessment frameworks including inherent risk and residual risk assessments
Design and refine scoring methodologies for evaluating third-party risk across various domains
Ensure risk assessments align with risk appetite and support business decision making
Collaborate with risk partners to streamline risk assessment processes and ensure effectiveness throughout the third-party lifecycle
Drive process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and sustainability
Analyze data and identify gaps, issues, or areas of challenge, ensure activities are appropriately documented and communicated
Balances multiple priorities to help drive the program and support team objectives, while managing tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives to support the Third Party Risk Management team in a well-managed capacity
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Demonstrates strong communication, collaboration, problem solving and influencing skills across various levels of the organization
Thorough knowledge of Risk Management competencies
Strong analytical, process facilitation, and project management skills
Effective presentation and stakeholder management
Relationship building and ability to influence solutions
Prior experience in Third Party Risk Management, Operational Risk Management, Audit, Third Party Management or similar role
Basic Qualifications:
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification
At least 5 years of experience in Risk Management, or Compliance, or Audit
At least 3 years of experience working with internal business clients
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree in Finance, or Accounting, or Audit, or Business Management
At least 5+ years of Project Management experience leading cross functional programs in Risk
Industry certifications in Third Party or Operational Risk Management (Certified Third Party Risk Professional, ABA Certificate in Operational Risk Management) or Applicable professional certifications (Certified Professional Auditor, Project Management Professional)

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
