The Operating Room at UNC Health Johnston is looking for OR Tech / Surgical Technician candidates with 5 years OR experience.
Internal Temporary Contract Options:
Non-Benefits Option
- Agreement duration is 13 weeks (with the ability to renew multiple times not to exceed a 12-month period without a 90-day interruption in service).
- Eligible for 403b teammate contribution.
- Hourly Rate: $54.00
- Not eligible for benefits
Benefits Eligible Option
- Agreement is 26 weeks (with the ability to renew).
- Benefits include Health, Dental, Vision and 403b teammate contribution (PDO and other special pay benefits are not available for this option)
- Hourly Rate: $40.00
- This contract period may be renewed without restrictions based on the needs of the department and organization.
Call requirements include weekday and weekends and holidays. Call requirements can range from 1-2 nights per week or every 3-5 weekends depending on current staffing needs.
Summary:
The surgical technician is a skilled professional well versed in anatomy and basic surgical procedures that is able to function in the roll of back table set up and first assist as needed. The surgical technician is a vital part of the OR team whose focus is excellent patient care.
Responsibilities:
Scrubs, sets and maintains sterile field. Assembles necessary supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures. Assists with patient positioning and transport. Assists the surgeon with functions that are within their scope of practice. Maintains sterility at all times during surgical procedures.
Assists in room clean up and turn over as needed.
Operates the steam autoclave and other sterile processing equipment.
Anticipates up coming cases and prepares accordingly.

● Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology or a OR Technician with a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience.
