Position Summary:

The major responsibility of the Camp Counselor is to assist in the daily delivery of a wide variety of developmentally appropriate programs and activities.  Participate in all activities and insure that campers participate as well. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Assist in the daily delivery of a wide variety of developmentally appropriate programs and activities.

·         Assist in the supervision and discipline of campers participating in programs and services within the designated program areas as well as throughout the camp/clubhouse as deemed appropriate.

·         Participate in collaborative programs, events, and field trips with staff from other clubhouse groups, staff from other BGCB clubhouses and community organizations as appropriate. 

·         Assessing our impact is critical to our work.  All staff is expected to participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey.

·         Secure and maintain materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the camp/program area(s).  Maintain a safe and clean camp/program area. 

·         Travel between sites and to activities as needed.

·         Other related duties as specified by Directors.

Position Requirements (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Work Demand:

·         High School degree or GED preferred.

·         Must be 18 years of age.

·         Experience working with children/youth preferred.

·         Must be or become CPR and First Aid certified.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

·         Ability to work with youth and families from a variety of backgrounds.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·         Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, flexibility to work extended hours required.
