The College of Continuing Studies offers access to Bridgewater State University by providing pathways to degrees, credentials for post-traditional students, and noncredit professional, corporate, and community education programs. We offer high-quality, flexible programs and courses-on campus, online, and at our satellite locations-that allow students with complex lives to achieve their educational, professional, and lifelong learning goals.Position Summary
As a member of the College of Continuing Studies professional staff, the Recruitment, Admission and Transfer Counselor will play a crucial role in meeting the University's student admission, enrollment, and retention goals. This position involves representing the University at recruitment events, providing admission counseling, assisting students with the transfer process, supporting students with technology, registration, and administrative tasks necessary for enrollment and retention. Data entry, data management, and general administrative tasks will be required. The counselor will also focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion, particularly in supporting traditionally under-served and post-traditional students.This position is located on campus in Bridgewater, MA. This position is eligible for hybrid/remote work in accordance with BSU's remote work policy.
This is an APA position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
1. Recruitment: a. Work with the Director of Admission and the Admission Team to develop and execute strategies to represent the college and university at various recruitment events, both on and off campus.b. Disseminate information about the college and university to prospective students, current applicants, their families, and other interested parties.c. Engage in some local travel, including evening and weekend work, to attend recruitment events. This includes regular visits to to regional community colleges.d. Provide recommendations to the Director of Admission for deepening engagement and support of prospective post-traditional students from our community college partners, local and regional educational partners, business partners, and separated Bridgewater State University students.2. Admission Counseling: a. Provide admission counseling to prospective students and their families, offering guidance throughout the application process.b. Communicate regularly with prospective students regarding application status, outstanding items, and timelines for submission.c. Participate in the review, processing, and decision-making process for student admission applications.d. Maintain admission files, track applications, and ensure up-to-date information in the University's CRM and SIS systems.
3. Assisting Students with the Transfer Process: a. Guide students through the transfer process, ensuring they understand the requirements and timelines.b. Collaborate with other departments to facilitate a smooth transfer experience for students.
4. Assisting Students with Technology, Registration, and Administrative Tasks: a. Support students in navigating the University's technology platforms, including but not limited to accessing the BSU Student Platform, Student Profile, Degree Works, BridgeNet, Blackboard, and other technology platforms as they become available.b. Assist students with the use of the InfoBear registration system, registering for classes, and other administrative tasks necessary for registration and enrollment.c. Maintain accurate and up-to-date admission files and student records.
5. Data Entry and Data Management:
a. Perform data entry tasks to ensure accurate and timely input of student information into the University's systems.b. Manage and maintain databases, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.c. Generate reports and provide data analysis to support recruitment and admission strategies.
6. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion:
a. Coordinate diversity recruitment programming and communication specific to post-traditional and traditionally under-served students and community-based organizations.b. Implement the University's diversity recruitment efforts, including outreach programming for prospective under-served students and their families.c. Demonstrate sensitivity and commitment to issues of access, equity, and inclusion in all interactions with prospective students, their families, and campus colleagues.d. Assist in the preparation and updating of recruitment communication plans specific to under-served students, including printed admission materials, websites, and other electronic communication platforms.
7. Client Services and Event Support:
a. Provide courteous and timely responses to all prospective inquiries.b. Support and attend information sessions, orientation events, and other departmental meetings and events as required.c. Consistently create a positive enrollment experience for prospective and admitted students. Demonstrate enthusiasm and advocacy for the University in all interactions.
8. Additional Responsibilities:
a. Generate reports for the Director of Admissions regarding recruitment tasks and programs.b. Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree.* Minimum of 1-year professional experience or equivalent combination of relevant experiences related to recruitment, retention, student involvement, and student services.
* Effective communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
* Sensitivity and commitment to issues of access, equity, and inclusion.
* Ability to work within a diverse community and represent the organization professionally.
* Detail-oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
* Willingness to engage in some evening and weekend work, including local travel.
* Valid driver's license.
* Ability to lift and carry 30 lbs. and set up a simple display.

* Knowledge of the Mass Transfer Program.
