Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the staff accountant, performs general accounting duties including monthly financial statement preparation, maintenance of the general ledger, month end journal entries, pre-year end analysis, pre-audit analysis and work papers. Assist with other functions for the daily operation of the finance department.
Responsibilities:
Key Customers for this position include, but are not limited to, Finance Director, CFO, and Hospital Leadership. Responsibilities described above are also customer responsibilities. All customers are treated with courtesy and compassion. Responses to customers are timely and verified for accuracy and reasonableness. Issues or problems should be investigated and suggestions or opinions given on resolutions.
Other information:
EDUCATION
o Bachelor’s degree required; in Accounting, Business or Finance required from a recognized college or university.
EXPERIENCE
o Four years of general accounting or related office experience preferred, healthcare experience preferred.
LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
o CPA preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
o Decision making ability, strong communication skills, with good judgement, strong Microsoft Office Skills, UNC Infor and STRATA system with the ability to learn new software systems and understand data mining concepts. Must work well under deadline pressures.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
o Office with some travel for training and education
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
o Sitting, standing, keyboarding, minor lifting of reports for storage.
