Sr. Manager, Risk Management (Card)

As a Senior Manager, Risk Manager in Card you will apply your project management and analytical skills to our highest profile Risk Management projects. You will lead a team of Risk Specialists responsible for working across the enterprise to develop and implement cutting edge Risk solutions to ensure Capital One's continued stability and success. Senior Risk Managers partner with Executives and their teams to identify potential Risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded.

Senior Risk Managers at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent project management and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

This role is the lead for our event leads and SWAT team and will be focused on ensuring we meet and exceed metric and quality adherence. This associate will ensure we meet or exceed SLAs and KPIs, flagging concerns multiple months ahead.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and motivate team of direct and indirect associates through outstanding people leadership

  • Understanding, documenting and analyzing current state capabilities regarding one or more Risk methods. Leverage industry benchmarking to determine best practices and lessons learned regarding components of the Risk framework.

  • Write and revise documents such as policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines. Develop and enhance processes, tools, templates, and job aides. Write, contribute to, edit, and deliver presentations that aid in the design, development, refinement, and usage of Risk methods.

  • Collaborate effectively across multiple organizations such as Operational Risk Management, Enterprise Risk Management, Compliance, Business Risk Offices, Operational Risk Sub-Steward organizations, Information Technology, Basel Program, Internal Audit, Regulator Relations, etc. to achieve objectives.

  • Influencing senior leaders and partners through storytelling via decks, meetings, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent certification

  • At least 3 years of People Management experience

  • At least 3 years of Project Management or Process Management experience

  • At least 3 years of Operations, Financial Services Compliance or Risk Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business clients

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • 4+ years Process Management or Project Management Experience

  • 4+ years of Operations, Financial Services Compliance or Risk Management experience

  • 5+ years of risk methodologies and corporate risk practices experience

  • PMP, Lean, Agile or Six Sigma certification

  • Strong communication, problem solving and collaboration skills

This role is hybrid meaning associates typically spend about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting. Monday and Fridays are enterprise- wide virtual work days. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
