In this role, you will develop and implement a variety of security applications and infrastructure security projects. A day in the life:

  • Oversee ODOT's security environment, managing access to data, applications and programs needed for job performance.

  • Support ongoing operations, maintenance and user assistance of cybersecurity tools such as firewalls, scanning systems, traffic analyzers and vulnerability management tools.

  • Respond to security incidents and report on incident handling and resolution.

  • Ensure security architecture aligns with business needs and complies with industry best practices and regulations.

  • Collaborate with partners from other agencies and approved contractors to ensure proper access to ODOT resources while minimizing exposure of agency information.

  • Meet with vendors of security systems, evaluating their products as they develop technology new to the industry.

  • Provide technical assistance and oversight to customers on cybersecurity issues.

  • Train team members and colleagues on the tools for managing security using specialized software to control access on different platforms.

  • Participate in information and cyber security strategic and tactical planning.

  • Develop, coordinate and record testing results with internal and external partners to ensure the product functions properly and meets expected protection and services.

  • Work in an office environment with hybrid work options available - Some travel and overnight may be required.

Minimum qualifications:

  • Six (6) years of information and/or network systems with a focus on information and cyber security;

OR

  • An associate's degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND four (4) years of information and/or network systems with a focus on information and cyber security;

OR

  • A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field AND two (2) years of information and/or network systems with a focus on information and cyber security;

OR

  • Master's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.

What we’d like to see:

  • A current and valid certification in Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or related certification is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in information security principles and practices, specifically in Vulnerability Management, Security Orchestration, Automation and Response.

  • Demonstrated experience in information security including a strong knowledge of security processes and technologies including authentication, encryption, public key infrastructure and secure communication protocols.

  • Demonstrated experience in system administration, application monitoring and support of enterprise security solutions including Zero Trust.

  • Demonstrated experience with security threats, vulnerabilities, attack methods and countermeasures for web-based application including threat modeling, secure coding and vulnerability testing.

  • Note: This position will receive a cost of living adjustment (COLA) increase of 6.55% which is not reflected in the salary listed in this posting. The effective date of the increase is Jan. 1, 2025, for Feb. 1, 2025, paychecks.
