As a Principal Software Engineer in the Military Avionics Center of Excellence (COE) here at Honeywell, you will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge software solutions for military avionics applications. Your expertise and technical leadership will contribute to the successful design and development of software systems that ensure the safety, security, and efficiency of military aircraft.

You will report directly to a Sr. Engineering Manager in the Military Avionics Center of Excellence and you'll work out of our Phoenix Deer Valley Arizona location on a Hybrid work schedule.

In this role, you will have a significant impact on the advancement of avionics technology, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements and provide innovative software solutions. Your technical expertise and problem-solving skills will contribute to the successful implementation of projects and the resolution of technical challenges.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Lead the design and development of software systems for military avionics applications
* Provide technical guidance and expertise to cross-functional teams
* Collaborate with customers to understand their requirements and provide innovative solutions
* Conduct system-level analysis and optimization
* Stay updated with the latest avionics technologies and industry trends

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status or have the ability to obtain an export authorization

YOU MUST HAVE

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as computer science, electrical engineering, or related field
* Minimum of 12 years of experience in software development, preferably in the avionics industry
* Extensive experience designing and debugging complex embedded software systems
* Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, and Ada
* Experience with software development tools, version control systems, and testing methodologies

WE VALUE

* Experience with low level software functions such as boot or device drivers
* Experience with safety-critical software development standards (DO-178C)
* Knowledge of military avionics systems and standards (MIL-STD-1553, ARINC 429, etc.)
* Strong leadership and communication skills
* Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
