Summary
As a National Bank Examiner/Bank Examiner (Commercial Credit) you will conduct and assist in the supervision of commercial credit activities in banks, carries out national and bank supervision objectives. Spends a majority of time conducting and assisting in the supervision of commercial credit activities in more challenging banks, including midsize and large banks.
Duties
As a National Bank Examiner (Commercial Credit), you will:
- Lead or assist in commercial credit examinations at challenging community banks and at midsize and large banks. Supervisory activities may involve issues requiring extensive investigation.
- Spend a majority of time working in a supervision environment which is challenging due to a combination of the following characteristics: size, condition, product mix, bank management and board management teams, geographic footprint, growth, funding structure, examination staff composition, and examination time constraints.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor commercial credit supervisory activities, including assessing risk, developing supervisory strategies, determining the scope of supervisory activities, managing teams of assisting personnel, preparing reports of activities, and developing responses to address risks.
- Conduct or participate in discussions with bank management on findings and recommendations. Prepare communications to foster positive changes within the bank.
- Provide leadership and training on topics related to commercial credit lending and applicable laws and regulations. Serve as a commercial credit consultant to employees and managers.

This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement:
You must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the NB-IV band level or GS-11 Grade Level. Examples of specialized experience for this position include:
- Examining or auditing a financial institution's commercial credit risk management systems used to identify, measure, monitor and control risks; or
- Examining or auditing a financial institution's compliance with laws, regulations and guidance related to commercial lending
The experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector, or through volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis.
