Overview:
YouthConnect is a program of Boys & Girls Club of Boston in partnership with the Boston Police Department. YouthConnect is designed to address the unique needs of at promise and urban youth who are referred to the program by Boston police officers. Social workers assist in improving the youth’s overall behaviors and performance in school, home, and community. Using YouthConnect’s four tier service model, the social workers develop and provide appropriate intervention and treatment strategies including referrals to community-based agencies, clinical case management, individual and family therapy, parent guidance, and advocacy.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Master of Social Work (MSW) intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience in providing social services and support to diverse populations. As an MSW Intern, you will work closely with experienced social workers and other professionals to enhance your clinical, advocacy, and case management skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the intake process and case assessments for clients.
- Participate in client interviews and assessments under supervision.
- Support the development and implementation of treatment plans.
- Help coordinate services for clients, including referrals to community resources.
- Conduct initial home visits with clinical oversight of supervisor.
- Provide individual therapy.
- Document client interactions and maintain case records in compliance with agency policies.
- Attend group supervision/case reviews, and supervision sessions.
- Adhere to ethical guidelines and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited MSW program.
- Strong interest in social work practice and community service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.
- Strong organizational skills, flexibility, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to client-centered care and social justice.
