Job Description:

The Manufacturing Automation Manager role is based in Nashville, TN, with onboarding conducted either virtually or in person at Nextracker's Fremont, CA office. Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing, this position focuses on driving factory and inspection automation for processes such as roll forming, stamping, and machining, while continuously enhancing Nextracker’s product offerings. The role involves researching and implementing the latest automation technologies to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Additionally, you will collaborate with current suppliers or identify and engage new partners to develop and execute innovative automation concepts and solutions.

Here is a glimpse of what you’ll do…

  • Lead the development and implementation of factory and inspection automation systems.
  • Research and adopt advanced automation technologies to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with existing suppliers or engage new partners to design and deploy innovative automation solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvements in production efficiency, product quality, and operational cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee automation projects from conception to execution, ensuring alignment with company objectives.
  • Attend trade shows to keep up with latest advances in automation globally

Here is some of what you’ll need (required)…

  • Bachelors or master’s in industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical engineering
  • 10+ years of experience in factory automation
  • Laser and robotics experience is A+
  • Proven experience in manufacturing automation, particularly in processes like roll forming, stamping, laser, robotics and machining.
  • Strong understanding of automation technologies and their practical applications in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners
  • Proactiveness and autonomy
  • Quality and Lean Manufacturing: Experience with quality control methodologies, statistical process control, and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Problem-solving skills: Proven ability to analyze complex production issues, troubleshoot problems, and implement effective solutions
  • Communication and Leadership: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and collaborate effectively
  • Detail-oriented: Strong attention to detail and a focus on maintaining high standards of quality and precision
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment and adapt to changing priorities and demands
  • Automation and Technology: Evaluate and implement automation technologies, data analysis tools, and process control systems to improve overall plant performance
  • Safety Consciousness: Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety regulations and protocols
