The Position
The Investment Manager supports product-focused decision making and financial stewardship by taking accountability for how the Value Team leverages the IT Investment Management Framework. This role will utilize portfolio demand and fiscal management tools to monitor and analyze performance that includes Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) and value realization. The incumbent will curate insights of operational savings and efficiencies that will inform investment decisions. The Portfolio Manager reports to the Value Team Portfolio Lead and works closely with Product Line Leads, Product Managers, Finance and Value Teams.
What will you do?
- Portfolio governance, operational reviews, and reporting (overall health, resource consumption, financials etc.) for Value Team members and Senior Leaders.
- Management in all phases of investment process to drive, execute and optimize division IT portfolio.
- Proactive stewardship of all investment funding mechanisms, which includes ensuring the collective initiatives and product lines do not exceed the portfolio's budget allocation.
- Consistent reporting in all applicable systems and forums at various levels of Value Team operations.
- Adoption of portfolio and financial tools and processes. This includes becoming a subject matter expert that can host training to increase financial acumen of peers and Value Team.
- Validation and prioritization of new portfolio demand in partnership with Value Team Leader & Portfolio Lead while instilling a culture of sharing and re-use.
- Propose and secure funding through business case and guardrail management in collaboration with Business Technology Partners (BTPs) and Product Line Leaders (PLLs).
- Tracking/Reporting Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) & value realization that supports decision making for Portfolio Lead and Value Team.
- Independent content creation for Senior Leaders that articulates value drivers, progress on value, key decisions, and impact/outcomes.
- Active participation in process improvement forums and retrospectives. As a next step, incumbent can implement changes with Agile mindset.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- 5 + years of demonstrated IT portfolio or fiscal management experience, pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Curiosity to discover drivers behind trends. Strong quantitative skills and the ability to use/visualize data and metrics to inform investment decisions in cross-functional team.
- Strong financial, process improvement acumen with interest in educating organization in these concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in detail-oriented role with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, often without oversight.
- Solid communication skills including facilitation of live or virtual meetings, meeting/workshop management, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Competent in the use of financial and communications tools including Microsoft Excel and Teams along with the rest of Office 365 suite, Confluence, Spotfire, Power BI, JIRA.
