This work at the intersection of people and nature requires new perspectives, skillsets, and an agile approach. Within a learning environment, the Stewardship Intern will provide a novel and fresh perspective to an assigned team and project within the organization. We are seeking purpose-driven, impact-hungry, fun-loving interns to join us in transforming our work.


WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU

The Stewardship Intern will work directly with the Stewardship team and various other program teams to help identify, design, and implement innovative approaches to our work to enhance the impact of our projects. They will bring their background and expertise - perhaps in technology, data management, design, communications, science, engineering, ecology, writing, media, etc. - to significantly advance innovation in conservation. This could include creating processes, building conservation solutions, designing program work, generating written or video program materials, or introducing new methods and best practices into our day to day operations and work. The project's content is dependent on the intern's academic interests, unique skillset, and the needs of our many conservation programs. With Stewardship being the area of focus, other areas in which the intern may contribute to include Conservation, Marketing & Communications, and Operations. The intern must have existing authorization to work in the U.S., and must be located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship. They must also hold a valid driver's license.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING
  • Currently enrolled in a University academic program in Conservation, Sustainability, Resource Management, Geography, Data Management, or related field.
  • Located in the designated regions for the duration of the internship.
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • Affinity towards spending long workdays outside.
  • Experience using research tools and computer systems.
  • Experience supporting complex projects and strategic initiatives in an unstructured environment.
  • Ability to walk long distances carrying 20+ lbs of tools and equipment.

Desired Qualifications

  • A desire to grow in this career field and tackle big challenges through a learning-by-doing approach.
  • Experience working with and directing volunteers.
  • Willingness to work independently (with guidance) 35 hours per week for 12 weeks.
  • Ability to communicate accurately, transparently, and to apply feedback.
  • Ability to use technology (Microsoft Suite, Zoom, etc.) for business processes or willingness and dedication to learn.
  • Experience with data collection, data management and interest or familiarity with GIS.
  • Comfortability learning/using hand tools, power tools, and gas powered equipment.
  • Passion for ecology, habitat restoration, public recreation, inclusivity, creativity, and innovation.

AUTO SAFETY POLICY

This position requires a valid driver's license and compliance with TNC's Auto Safety Program.

Employment in this position will be contingent upon completion of a Vehicle Use Agreement, which may include a review of the prospective employee's motor vehicle record.


SALARY INFORMATION

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally $17.00/hour. This range only applies to candidates whose country of employment is the USA. Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.
