General Description:
The primary responsibilities of this position are to perform quality checks on finished goods and to review in-process records for any sign of process deviations or holds for all low-acid and acid/acidified products.
Requirements:
• Strong science background (some chemistry or microbiology and laboratory experience)
• Strong math skills
• Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite)
• Strong oral, written, listening skills, and organizational
Training Responsibilities (upon hire):
• Complete all required Safety and Quality training and follow all plant policies.
• Better Process Control School
• Preventive Controls Qualified Individual
Job Responsibilities:
• Understand all Quality specs
• Assist plant in applying HACCP/Food Safety Plans protocols
• Follow all Food Safety regulations
• Perform finished product checks
• Understand in-process checks
• Perform process deviation review
• Compile, organize, and file all processing records (day file)
• Understand and follow Hold process
• Understand and apply GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) and 5S principles to the Quality lab
• Perform lab equipment validations and calibrations (where appropriate)
• Participate in all Internal audits
• Participate in all External audits (FSSC, Organic, FDA, and State)
• Ability to perform Traceability and Annual Mock Recalls
• Other job duties as required
Preferred Skills:
• Associates of Science or BS/BA preferred
• Experience working in a high speed packaging or processing plant
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices
• Knowledge of Acidified and Low Acid Products
• Documentation / Record Keeping and RedZone awareness
• Knowledge of Retort Operations
