TSS’ vision is to empower the region using innovative technology solutions to connect citizens and enrich and transform how we travel, work and live.

The ERP Data Engineer will be a team member in the Business Development Business Unit within TSS. The unit is tasked with managing the operation, modification, and maintenance of technology platforms – and particularly, MTC’s ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) environment – to support a more productive, more collaborative, equitable, friendly, and more dignified user experience. The ERP Data Engineer will need to hit the ground running and work within a technology workstreams team responsible for the migration of data from our legacy ERP system (Central Square) to our future ERP system (Oracle) this year.

The ERP Data Engineer will perform development and data migration work currently underway at MTC. With the guidance of a Data Strategist, the ERP Data Engineer will be responsible for the following:

  • Development of SQL queries and scripts enabling the reproducible extraction of structured data from a SQL Server database, into raw files following a specified format and structure.
  • Engagement with relevant vendors, subject matter experts, and operational users, to define data scopes, establish data requirements, and corroborate query outputs.
  • Participate in recurring working sessions discussing Central Square’s reporting, platform logic, and data structures, in support of this activity.
  • Collaborate with other MTC technology workstream team members to enable the bulk extraction of attachments from Central Square and loading of these into the Oracle system.
  • Other relevant database engineering/data quality tasks to ensure successful data conversion and migration.

  • Collaborate with resources in data integration, migration, delivery, and validation.
  • Follow best practices and established standards of data governance and data quality.
  • Analyze source and target data models and templates, and perform investigative analysis to identify the correct logical transformations and source-to-target mappings between each.
  • Facilitate coordinated movement of data from source to target systems.
  • Coordinate with technical and business subject matter expert (SME) staff on data validation in target systems.
  • Assist with the creation of functional and technical documentation related to Data Architecture.
  • Build SQL queries and scripts to support reproducible extraction and loading of data.
