Johnson County has a job opening for County Veteran Service Officer to provide assistance with veteran programs in accordance with Chapter 35B of the Code of Iowa.  Assist veterans and/or their eligible dependents in securing local, state, and federal benefits resulting from eligible service in the United States Armed Forces.  Provide outreach services to veterans and serves as a veteran advocate in the community.

Qualifications:

Associate degree in social work, human services, or related field AND two (2) years of experience in social work field or working with veterans in an official capacity ; OR any equivalent combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. 

Special requirements:

• Must pass background check.
• Valid driver’s license and insurable under county liability coverage.
• May also require use of private vehicle for official business. 
• Must be a Veteran.
