This Container Platform Support Engineer (SRE) role has a primary focus of supporting the container platform ecosystem at Truist. In this role you will be contributing to and supporting the corporate Enterprise Container Strategy by identifying ideas to improve system performance, efficiency, and introducing new capabilities. This includes improving/developing automation for cluster installation, system upgrades, patch management/compliance, and monitoring the health of the overall environment. Other important aspects of this role will be cluster capacity management and providing level two operational support. Ideal candidates should be able to perform the duties with minimal direction and be proactive with the identification of the issues and bring it to the engineering team’s attention.

***Candidates will need to able to work during one of the following shifts***

Early morning shift, (6:00 am - 3:00 pm ET, with 1 hour break)
OR
Evening shift, (2:00 pm - 11:00 pm ET, with 1 hour break)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Develop customized coding, software integration, perform analysis, configure solutions, using tools specific to the project or the area.

2. Lead and participate in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards, including robust unit testing and support for subsequent release testing.
3. Build non-functional monitoring capabilities and provide escalated support for highly complex applications in production.
4. Build in and maintain security controls and monitoring in support of company standards.
5. Typically lead moderately complex projects and participate in larger, more complex initiatives.
6. Solve complex technical and operational problems. Act as a resource for teammates with less experience
7. May oversee the work of a small team.
8. In an Agile environment: Responsible for delivering high quality working software and automating manual/reusable tasks working directly, and engage with, the business from the beginning of the design work. Leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding effectiveness of the design. Actively participate in refining user stories. Responsible for design, developing, and maintaining automated unit testing, and supporting integration and functional testing. Responsible for providing automated monitoring capabilities, providing warranty support, and providing knowledge transfer to production support. Develop code in accordance with the acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s Degree and four to seven years of experience or equivalent education and software engineering training or experience
2. In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices
3. Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function
4. Ability to plan and manage projects and solve complex problems by applying best practices
5. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications:
1.
Experience working in Agile teams and knowledge of Agile development & release practices
2. Banking or financial services experience
3. Knowledge about Kubernetes design standards, patterns, and best practices
4. Knowledge about Micro-services design standards, patterns, and best practices
5. Proven track record of acting as SME for Container projects and managing the day-to-day operations of a container platform

6. Effective written and verbal communication skills and good listening skills 7. Excellent problem-solving skills - Ability to analyze problem in multiple perspectives
8. Must have a -can-do- attitude, a passion for technology, and willingness to learn new skills

9. Must be confident, self-starter, have a strong work ethic, and team oriented. 10. Hands-on experience with at least 3-4 of the following:

a. Kubernetes

b. RedHat OpenShift

c. Scripting/automation

d. Container platform administration/support

11. Any Linux administration (preferably RHEL/CoreOS)
12. Experience with Micro-services, Gitlab, Azure DevOps/Jenkins, Rally, JFrog Artifactory/Docker Registry/RedHat Registry, Ansible, Gitops, ArgoCD

13. Have working knowledge of on-premises infrastructure and cloud-based deployments and configurations along with monitoring and alerting

14. Experience working with Agile teams and good understanding of Agile principles is a must
