Position Summary
Reporting to the Director for Intercultural Student Success, Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity (LGCIE), the Assistant Director assists in the day-to-day operation of the center, as directed by the Director, to advance retention and graduation equity goals for students of color and their peers and achieve departmental strategic goals. A special emphasis of this role will be supporting the success of male students and others experiencing disparate educational outcomes. This includes fostering a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes academic success, retention, personal development, belonging, and community building for all students. The Assistant Director works in collaboration with the LGCIE staff to implement data-driven, student-informed events and programs. The Assistant Director will also work collaboratively cross-divisionally and with campus constituencies as directed by the Director for Intercultural Student Success, LGCIE, to provide resources and implement assessment-based student experiences that prepare students for their careers and civic engagement in society. This is a student-facing position and requires in-person engagement. Remote work once a week is permitted with the Director's approval and is based on the departmental needs.SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director for Intercultural Student Success, Lewis and Gaines Center for Inclusion and Equity.

Standard schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 - 5:00 (Some evenings and weekend hours are required)
Remote Work Status: Remote work eligible, Hybrid, 1day per week
This position is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, Non-Essential, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Essential Duties
- Assist the Director for Intercultural Student Success, LGCIE in designing and managing programs and initiatives that enhance student success and academic success. This includes coordinating equity-minded support programs for BSU students.
- Prioritize the development of programming and other resources to support the success of male students and other students experiencing disparate educational outcomes.
- Assist in leading college transition programs and other initiatives that support the retention and success of male students through an intercultural, equity-minded framework of practice. This includes serving as a thought partner in strategic planning and assessing new initiatives and campaigns.
- Manage and coordinate student forums and non-clinical support groups. This includes co-facilitating sessions in collaboration with students, faculty, and staff across divisions as directed by the Director for Intercultural Student Success, LGCIE.
- Assist in the planning and execution of departmental and campus-wide programs and events including those held in the evenings and on weekends, that promote equity-minded student success outcomes such as inclusion, belonging, retention, and persistence.
- Manage the budget for programs and initiatives related to student belonging and community building following departmental and university procedures.
- Oversee the center's marketing strategies to highlight all LGCIE programs and initiatives. This includes developing strategic communication plans, writing announcements, creating posters, developing social media campaigns, and maintaining the LGCIE internal website.
- Support the Director of LGCIE in developing and implementing the department's strategic plan and Racial Equity, Justice, and Inclusion (REJI) goals.
- Assist in connecting students with the appropriate resources in order to support student success.
- Create, administer, analyze, and report assessment data on the effectiveness of the student success programs/initiatives and student satisfaction. This includes compiling data on center usage and program participation.
- Hire, train, and supervise, student workers (LGCIE Ambassadors) and provide guidance with tasks and professional development
- Assist the Director in providing mentorship to the Multicultural student organizations connected to LGCIE, attend the monthly presidents' meetings, and act as a liaison with the Center for Student Engagement to foster an inclusive and supportive campus community.
- Assist the Director with representing the department at Open House and other university-wide initiatives as needed. Some evening and weekend hours are required.
- May serve on various division or university committees related to student success, equity, intersectional identities, and belonging.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
. Bachelor's Degree* Three years of related professional experience (or its equivalency) working
in student success and transition programs.
* Experience working with racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse
students.
. Strong organizational skills, program management, and leadership abilities.
* Ability to use basic and some advanced functions in Windows Operating
Systems, Office 365, the internet, website updates, social media, and desktop
publishing applications.
* Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
for teamwork and collaboration with students, staff, and faculty.
. Strong written and oral written communication skills.
. Demonstrated commitment to and experience implementing a broad and
intersectional definition of diversity and equity.
* Equity-minded, student success-oriented service provision skills.

Preferred Qualifications
* Master's Degree in related fields such as Student Affairs, Education, SocialWork, or Psychology.
* Demonstrated knowledge of identity development theories and practices, and
the intersection of various aspects of diversity in identity development and the
college transition process.
* Experience planning and leading culturally appropriate interventions and
programs for intercultural student engagement, success, and belonging.
. Linguistic proficiency in Spanish, French, and/or Cape Verdean Creole.
